Roof Repairs Across Westmeath, Longford, Meath, Cavan, Louth, Leitrim & Roscommon
Most roof problems start small — a slipped slate, a cracked flashing, a blocked valley — and stay hidden until water finds its way into a ceiling. We repair damaged, leaking and worn roofs, and we tell you honestly whether a repair is the right answer or whether the roof is past it.
Signs your roof needs repairing
Damage is usually visible from the ground long before it shows inside. If any of the following sound familiar, it is worth getting the roof looked at before the next stretch of wet, windy weather.
- Damp patches, staining or peeling paint on upstairs ceilings and walls
- Slates or tiles that have slipped, cracked or gone missing after wind
- Pieces of slate, mortar or ridge bedding in the gutters or on the ground
- Daylight coming through the roof when you look up in the attic
- Water marks along the chimney breast, which usually points to flashing
- Sagging or springy areas in the roof line viewed from across the road
How we handle a leaking roof
Water rarely enters directly above the damp patch inside. It runs along battens and rafters before it drops, so the first job is tracing the actual entry point rather than patching the nearest obvious defect.
Once the source is found we repair it properly — re-slating, re-bedding ridge tiles, renewing flashings, sealing valleys or replacing rotten timber and felt where the water has already done damage. We then check the surrounding area so the same leak does not come back in a month.
Storm and emergency damage
After a storm the priority is making the roof watertight and safe. We will get the property protected first, then look at what needs to be done permanently once the weather allows. If you have loose slates hanging over a footpath or driveway, say so when you call and we will treat it as urgent.
Repair or replace?
A roof with sound timbers and a few failed slates is worth repairing. A roof where the nails have corroded throughout, the felt has perished and slates are slipping every few weeks is money down the drain in repeat callouts. We will tell you which one you have and why, and if a full re-roof makes more sense we will say that rather than sell you repairs on borrowed time.
Questions
Roof Repairs — Common Questions
Can you repair just one section of a roof?
Yes, if the rest of the roof covering is sound. Localised repairs are very common — a valley, a section around a chimney or a patch of slipped slates. We will match the existing slate or tile as closely as we can.
How quickly can someone look at a leak?
Active leaks are prioritised. Call 083 072 0735 and we will give you an honest timeframe rather than a date we cannot keep.
Will the repair be visible from the ground?
We try to match materials so repairs blend in. On older slate roofs a reclaimed or salvaged slate usually gives the closest match, and we will discuss that with you before starting.
